Be Thankful for what you Have ?
Here is a short story I read not to long ago that got me thinking about how lucky I was in life, since my retirement. I hope it will help you as it helped me
One day the father of a rich family brought his son in the country to show him how poor people live.
They spend a few days on a farm of a family that doesn’t have much to offer them.
On the return trip the father asks his son. “Did you like your stay ?” “It was fantastic dad”
“Did you see how the poor people live ?” Asks again the father.
” Oh yes” Replied the son.
“Than what have you learned ?”
The son replies “I saw that they had four dogs and we have only one.
We have a swimming pool that covers half of the garden and they swim in a large crick on the ocean.
We have lanterns in our garden and they have stars in the sky.
We have a large porch in front of our house they have the horizon
We have a domain but they have fields as far as the eye can see.
We have servants but they serve others.
We buy our food and they grow their own.
We have walls around our property to protect us. They have friends that protect them.”
The father was speechless.
The son added, “Thank you dad for showing me everything we don’t have”.
To often we forget what we have to complain about what we don’t have.
An object whit out any value for one can very well be a treasure for others. It’s a question of perspective.
Are you Thankful for what you have ?
Your friend
