Morning stiffness!

Getting out of bed is difficult, muscles hurt you’re sore all over, you’re articulations don’t obey as they should anymore.

Certain articulations are stiff or hurt in the morning as you get up? If you’ve been exercising or done some type sport the day before, its normal…. your hard muscles are recuperating as soon as you move around everything will get back to normal.

But if on the contrary, morning after morning an articulation is stiff and hurts, and your movements are limited, its a sign of something else, you must take this painful situation seriously and get medical advice.

It could probably be one of many forms of arthritis. Persisting morning stiffness and pain are the first signs. It could be osteoarthritis, a consequence of aging that deteriorates the cartilage, or one of many forms of arthritis

In general most of us wait years before getting medical advice on this subject. We bear with the pain, and let inflammation slowly destroy our articulations. In time, movements become difficult and painful; in certain cases articulations become deformed, out of shape. In dealing rapidly with with the pain, you slow down the inflammation, and prevent the problem to get worst. The more you wait, the more it becomes difficult to deal with.

What about medication?

Today there are many medications, that will effectively treat inflammation. The anti-inflammatory non steroids classics like (the AINS, such as MOTTRIN, ASPIRIN, TYLENOL and such) are effective for a lot of people. Traditional medication will make you feel better and relieve you of the pain and prevent the articulation to deteriorate, but they are not effective in the more severe cases. Most medication against arthritis, even if they relieve the pain, they often have more or less important side effects. You should have an honest talk with your doctor to find the convenient medication for you

And if you Exercise?

Arthritis and osteoarthritis have a powerful and dreadful enemy; Exercise. If this sickness, by nature tends to to limit certain movements, exercise on the contrary contributes to maintain or better movements. To limit your exercise because of stiffness or pain is the worst thing to do. When you don’t exercise you have a tendency to gain weight that will accentuate stress on your articulations. And in limiting a little at a time your movements, you end up weakening your muscles and loosing muscular mass. Most of us stop exercising on the pretext that the pain will get worst, when its exactly the opposite that happens.

This said, its important to chose the right exercises and to do them the right way!

But first with the help of your doctor you want to relieve the pain.Than you can easily begin!

Most of the exercise can be easily be done at home.

Circular exercises will relieve stiffness and maintain the movement of the articulation involved. For example if you have difficulty with the shoulder, do wide circular movements with your arm , to maintain the whole movement. The same scenario go’s for any affected articulation; its a question of going through the full movement of the concerned articulation.

To grow or maintain the strength of your muscles strengthening exercises are indicated:and they can be done on special exercise equipment or weight lifting.

For endurance, physical exercises such as: cycling, walking, swimming, jogging, cross country skiing, and skating for example are excellent for developing your endurance. Doing such exercises for a certain length of time without being out of breath or getting to tired will greatly contribute to grow the capacity of your cardiovascular and respiratory system.

The beauty of the story:

Combining medication and exercise can in time, cause to reduce your medication, limit the need or even suppress the usage of medicine. In certain cases exercise alone will suffice to control inflammation
